28 Jul Canada : Niagara Falls
Who doesn’t love Canada – eh? I was gifted the opportunity to head to Niagara Falls for the first time this past weekend and naturally, I had a grand time!
It’s hard not to be entranced by the sheer beauty of the falls and with the sunny skies as a backdrop, mild humidity and light winds, it was the perfect day to visit the famous falls.
The highlight of this trip was the Maid of the Mist boat ride which carries you through the basin of the American Falls all the way to the center of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. The views were amazing but I will say, once you’re in the midst of the Falls on that boat – you experience waaay more than a just a “mist” – but it’s well worth it (and nothing that a complimentary poncho can’t take care of) !
I also was able to check out “Journey Behind the Falls” which are tunnels that take you near the base , behind and to the side of Horseshoe Falls. However informative, for me, it was anticlimactic – especially after the amazing boat ride – but it was a site to see and experience nonetheless.
My stay was somewhat brief so I didn’t get a chance to do much more than what I was able to do this time around. When I do return to Niagara Falls, it will be with borrowed children or my own because with the arcades, attractions and fatty food places, it’s a Disneyland of sorts for families and kids!
…Aaaand I won’t harp on how I purchased tickets but punked out last minute to walk through the doors of the highly regarded Nightmares haunted house. Womp….Next go around I’m in there – for sure 😉
